NYSCPG welcomes individuals with any level of education or experience to become a member or renew their membership online.
The membership categories for the New York State Council of Professional Geologists are Full Members, Prospector Members, Associate Members, Retiree Members, and Student Members. It is up to the discretion of the Board of Directors to approve or deny membership based on qualifications.
Full Member ($150) - Any person who is a licensed Professional Geologist in New York State shall be eligible for full membership. When registering, you will need to provide your valid NYS license number. Benefits of Full Membership Include:
- Access to the NYSCPG “Members Only” sections of the website (including Membership Directory, Newsletters, and other Licensure Related Items),
- Discounts on NYSCPG events, and
- Voting privilege in all NYSCPG elections and on all NYSCPG business matters.
Prospector Member ($200) - Full Members are eligible to upgrade their membership status to Prospector Member by paying an addition membership fee (shown below) and are entitled to all of the same benefits as the Full Member. Prospector Members receive special recognition on the NYSCPG website, on social media, and at various events throughout the year.
Associate Member ($100) - A person who is interested in the science of Geology and in the advancement of the objectives of the Council and who is not eligible to be a Full Member. The Geologist-In-Training (GIT) or other professionals who have yet to meet the experience requirement for licensure would be considered for Associate Membership. This membership level includes all of the benefits of Full Members except they are not eligible to vote on NYSCPG business items.
Retiree Member ($75) - Any person who meets the qualifications of a Full Member, but is no longer a practicing Geologist. Retiree Members are eligible for all benefits of Full Membership.
Student Member ($25) - Any currently enrolled graduate or undergraduate college student shall be eligible to be a Student Member. An individual’s Student Membership is terminated at the end of the membership year in which their college work is completed. The former Student Member can apply as a Full Member, Prospector Member, or Associate Member as set forth herein. A student must use a valid *.edu email address to be considered for the Student Membership. Student Members are granted all the benefits of a Full Membership except they are not eligible to vote on NYSCPG business items.
Sustaining Member Level
Any corporation or organization whose activities and/or interests concern the science of Geology and the advancement of the mission of the Council can sponsor members through a Sustaining Membership. Acceptance of these Corporate Sponsorship is contingent upon a professional interest in the science of geology and payment of Sustaining Membership dues. The support of Sustaining Members has been crucial to NYSCPG throughout the years and we appreciate the continued support.
Sustaining Members receive special recognition on the NYSCPG website on both the Home and the Sustaining Members pages, on social media, and at various events throughout the year. Sustaining Memberships include an individual membership for the administrator of the corporate sponsors with the following benefits:
Sustaining Member Bronze ($300) - Includes Access to NYSCPG "Members Only" page as well as your Company Logo and link on our "Sustaining Members" Page
Sustaining Member Silver ($500) - Includes benefits of Bronze in addition to be able to include an additional individual (Two total) under one bundle membership
Sustaining Member Gold ($1,000) - Includes previous benefits and three additional members (Five total) in one bundle membership
Sustaining Member Platinum ($2,000) - Includes previous benefits and five additional members (Ten total) in one bundle membership
Sustaining Member Diamond ($4,000) - Includes previous benefits and ten additional members (Twenty total) in one bundle membership
University Member ($250) - Any New York State based University with a department that provides undergraduate or graduate degrees in the science of Geology. The University Membership grants Student Member privileges to all students enrolled in that university. The University will be recognized with the Sustaining Members on the NYSCPG website, on social media, and at various events throughout the year.
Refunds
Refunds for credit card payments are subject to a 3% processing fee. This fee may be waived for extenuating circumstances as determined by the NYSCPG.
